15,000 persons come for work and 36,000 people come to shopping to the Tsukiji market every day. The stone buildings are old and huge, the cement floor has wet puddles everywhere. Everyone seemed to be super busy, I had no chance to talk to anyone and no idea which way we should go. We just kept walking and looking for the auction avoiding impatient
riding truck "turret" drivers at a crazy high speed. I could manage to ask the young man, and arrived at the
tuna auction. Amazing. Another world. Although we paid careful attention not to obstruct anyone, the tourist from the United States touched fish, stood into the auction crowd, they just do as they like. Annoying! I wonder why they don't realise everyone treat them as a damned nuisance! Actually, this tuna auction is not open to the public, there was some signs written in English too. Somehow they allowed (or gave up?) us to see the auction, so we should show some respects to fishermen! There were "half the price festival " which held in every half year and "drink! and eat! festival" outside of the fish market. We tried to stay awake and killing the time @ denny's till after 7am, but... we went home by cab. Even without trying some fresh tuna which we could try the outer market. After 68 years history, the Tsukiji market' transfer plan is progressing. In 2015, the 40ha new market (1.7 times bigger than now) will be open somewhere else. Sad.
