I don't watch TV anymore but I switched on TV for pitagoraswitch (pytagoras switch). This program is made for 4-6 year old child, helping the young to develop their way of thinking. Very nice. The editorial supervisor is Masahiko Sato (a creative art director; made many advertising, such as polinky, baza-ru de goza-ru (Bazaar de Gozaar)). The short video "nan no ato? (What mark is this?)" is done by Honma Takashi in a program. Pitagoraswitch clicks in my 6 + 26 years old head too!
Tamami told me that you can see this program on JSTV too, so I will have to check it out. So far my japanese TV diet consists mostly of 'Hoshin', '99', 'GETS!' and 'Musashi'.
Subarashi!
Yes, Dirk. Check it out! My favorite part is "algorithm march" and "what mark?". I hope you enjoy it. (JSTV is the TV channel which broadcasts Japanese programmes in Europe, so we don't have it here!) I don't like the guy who does Gets!! I feel so sorry for his very very short legs... By the way, what is "Hoshin"? I don't watch TV these days...
Short legs... he does?! Lol... I wonder how long he can go on doing this 'GETS!@ business. Oh, and maybe 'Hoshin' is actually 'Oshin' ?! It is an 80's serial drama that goes on for about a year, 15 mins every weekday... about the life story of a poor little girl (!)... making it big and finally owning the 'Yohan' shopping centre chain. One of those that used to be in Colindale here in 'Norf London'. Remember? I thought every japanese person knows about 'Oshin'. But maybe it was my spelling.
He is kind of vanished already... Oshin! Of course I know it. All Japanese (my parents generation) watched it with tears!! But I didn't know that she owned Yaohan in the end?! Surprising!
We love pitagoraswitch too!
Its taken until now to understand the meaning of the title - I always knew it was something about switches! I didn't know the 'what mark' section was done by Takeshi Homma - cool!
I love the asault course title sequences. Makes me want to go to a 100yen shop, buy some pegs, marbles and random bits of stuff and make my own!
The other great kids TV program (which Henrys always going on about) is DOREMI. Its really nicely done - lovely sets, wierd but beautiful music and lots of kids dancing in little coloured boiler suits. Also has UA singing, dressed as a cockrel and this guy TOMO-TOMO. Do you know him? He think hes quite famous too. I saw him recently at a party in Aoyama ... when I was hanging out with the stars!!

I like the fact that Japanese kids programs have a really inventive approach. In the UK all you seem to get these days are stupid cartoons and things like Teletubbies. I'm convinced kids TV in the UK was much better when we were young!
I didn't know about ドレミノテレビ and Tomo-Tomo. Wow, this guy Tomo-tomo looks dodgy! His grandfather was a famouse writer of children's songs, his father was a great timpanist, and he remakes rubbish into a musical instrument. Cool! And did you see him when you were hanging out with stars?! Which stars?
well you know ...
I was having a kind of dinner/unintentional meeting with some friends at this rather trendy 'wallpaper' style bar in Harajuku called Montoak and when I went to the loo Tomo-tomo walked past me! I think he's a little bit creepy but kind of 'hen-style' cool. I like his musical style :) I really like UA in DOREMI too. I wanted to buy one of her CDs but I had a listen in Tower Records and the music wasn't what I expected at all - too commercial style pop. I'd like to get hold of some of her more alternative music (if it exists outside of DOREMI). Anyone know about her?
Did you have dinner on the 3rd floor? That's meant (wants?) to be VIP room isn't it? I'm sure he is very HEN but cool. And about UA... I just know her as a J-POP queen with a bit of HEN. Sorry! Does anyone wants to say about her? I have no knowledge. I have to watch the program next week!
