tyrkisk peber
I finally got Tyrkisk peber (Turkish pepper) the other day. (see my old entry about Liquorice.) My sister' friend brought them from Finland. I don't know how to thank her! It is so good, at least to me! I tried to make Turkish Pepper Candy shot, just adding crushed 2 candies to 150cc of vodka. I left it until the candy has dissolved, and I tried a shot... Something went wrong! It tasted like medicine. The one which my Norwegian friend made was much sweeter and darker, I think. I should have added some suger?! Anyone got a good recipe?

Hello Jun chan! When Cathrine made the Turkish Pepper vodka shots, I think she put a whole bag of crushed Turkish Pepper (or more) in 3/4 bottle of absolut vodka. She then kept it in the freezer overnight for it to melt. It was jet black and very syrupy in texture. I think you need to put hell a lot more Turkish pepper. Btw, thank you very much for the birthday email. I've been away and v busy. Will write you an email soon! Can't wait for you and C to come stay with us!

Hi Jun I can't wait to see you either! We'll have to have a party for our birthdays! I'll try and speak to Keiko about it. Did you see this article Jun about cafes in Japanese Museums? I think you went to one of them a few weeks ago.Am going to try and sort out some flights this week! http://www.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/getarticle.pl5?fv20040312a1.htm

Hi Keiko! Thanks for the tip. I was a bit stingy I guess. Did she use a whole bag of duty free size Turkish Pepper? I hope not!!

Hi nigel! It was nice to talked to you the other day. I'm not sure if I've been to Tokyo National Museum. There are many other museums in the same area. Anyway, it seems very nice. I think I'm not the only one who studied art, lives in Tokyo but hasn't been there. Let's go there together, Nigel! Oh, for our birthday, I want pints with nice food, or salt & vinegar crisps!

Hi! I've made a lot of Turkish Peber shots, and you need much more than just a few candies for a shot, one and a half bag for one bottle of vodka is what I used last time... DO NOT add sugar, and DO NOT put in freezer or cooler, the melting process is best done in room temperature and if you shake it now and then it's a lot faster too. We were gonna pass out a nobel price for this invention, but we couldn't find anyone to take credit :D Hugs and Kisses from Sweden

wow, 2 kilos of tyrkisk peber! That's a lot :-)

Hi Henrik, thanks for the tips. Unfortunately I don't have any turkish peber left, but I will try your way next time. Cheers for a nobel prize invention!
