ちょっと前に4,517,039件の個人情報流出という不祥事がニュースで取り上げられていました。そして私の個人情報もしっかり流れてました。一昨日、その会社から「断腸の思いでございます」と縦書きに書かれた手紙と500円の郵便振替支払通知書が届きました。5月16日の「期限内に換金されないものは情報社会の将来のための基金などに寄付させていただければと存じます」との事。えっ～と「情報社会の将来のための基金など」って、何？

Last month, personal information on 4,517,039 persons had been leaked from the big company. I was one of 4,517,039! Annoying. The day before yesterday, I received a letter saying that 'they feel as if their heart would break' and ¥500 (£2.53) cheque was inside. It said 'If you don't cash a cheque by 16th May, we would like to donate those money to the fund for the future of the information society etc'. I have no idea what 'the fund for the future of the information society etc' is!

Hi Jun How annoying! But what are you meant to buy for £2.53!! It's almost an insult! Can you think of a nice treat for only £2.53? Maybe a piece of wood to block the mailbox so all the junk mail that arrives can't get through?

Hi Nigel, I know! I need at least 5 quid! or more!! It is a brilliant idea to buy a piece of wood but I will probably spend for chocolate or something! I should cash it tomorrow before I forget. I'm so sure that lots of people forget to cash (because of only £2.53!) and they can donate to themselves!
