The other day, in the cab on the way home after drinking a lot with C, I listened to a really old Japanese pop song from a radio. The vocal is double speeded (the voice sounds like Itchy & Scratchy opening song) and starts with 'Ora wa shinjimatta da- (I'm dead), Ora wa shinjimatta da- (I'm dead)'. When I was a kid, I didn't understand the whole lyrics, but laughing with friends singing 'I'm dead, I'm dead'.

This is The Folk Crusaders' song called 'Kaettekita Yopparai' (The drunk who came back), it also has an English title 'I only live twice' on a record jacket. It came out on Dec 1967, and it became a super hit song ever before in Japan. The song is about the man who goes to heaven because of his drunken driving (I don't know if it's nice to listen to it in a cab...) but once he gets there, he actually enjoys heaven. There are tasty drinks and beautiful ladies! A heaven can't take his drunkenness, and he is sent back to the earth in the end. A happy song?
