pie & mash
When I went to the East end of London, my friend K saw a nice old (since 1862) Pie & Mash shop, and we agreed to have a try. Because, the shop wasn't empty, they sell an East end speciality jellied eels (which I've never seen), and we saw a certificate of the 1999s Golden Pie Dish award by the window. And the pie was... super disappointed!!

I think the mash and the meat in a pie were normal quality but I couldn't stand the pie itself. It was white and quite hard, and it seemed like only half baked. With the sauce on top, it was like a soggy cracker. And the green parsley sauce (called Liquor) was also amazing. It was thick a little bit, and no taste, just crazy green colour. It could be better if the pie and the sauce was warmer, but maybe that's not a proper pie mash style. After we went inside, my friend K said that she wasn't really hungry, and she didn't order anything! £2.40 (¥467) for a meat pie and mash.

Yuck!!! It doesn't look like the pie Tamami got in the Easton does it!! It looks awful, I hate those kind of pies, they remind me of school dinners. Maybe they made all the pies in 1862 and are still waiting to sell them. I'll see if the Museum wants to buy one. (I think the jellied eels could have been even worse!!) Our latest display is Brad Pitt's costume from Troy! Good grief!!

Nigel, I can usually enjoy any kind of pies, even from a super market or a college canteen. But this pie was not nice at all! Maybe they don't use any butter for pie dough, or selling the one from 1862?! Keiko, it was good that we didn't order two. Did you feel bad for me or the shop (for not ordering)?
