ここ最近の疲れを癒すためにプールで1時間ほど泳ぎ、帰りに目黒通りにある有名な肉まん屋目黒五十番へ。蒸かしてある4種類の肉まんから（持ち帰り用の冷たい肉まんは何種類もあります）「夏まん」を選び、店先に設置してある小さなベンチに腰掛けて頂きました。夏まんの中身はキムチと焼き肉のタレ味（お店の人に言われないとわかりません）でした。次回は野菜まん、もしくは五目肉まんにする予定。焼きそば肉まんも気になります。

Today, I took the opportunity to refresh myself. I swam for an hour in a swimming pool, and I went to the famous Nikuman (meat bun) shop Meguro Gojuuban on Meguro street. There were only 4 choices of steamed buns (although there were many kinds of chilled buns for take away) and I chose Natsu-man (Summer bun). I sat on a little bench in front of the shop, and enjoyed the bun. Without the shop people telling me, I wouldn't have known that it was a mixture of Kimuchi (Korean pickles) and Yakiniku (Korean BBQ) dipping sauce flavour. Next time, I want to eat Yasaiman (vegetable) or Gomoku-nikuman (bit of veg, meat etc). Yakisoba-nikuman (stir fried noodle) sounds good too.

ココのお肉は「東京都中央卸売市場食肉市場銘柄豚入賞豚を使用致して居りますので安全で、お味が違います」との事です。牛肉まんは販売中止になってました。

They use prize winning pigs from the Meat Market of Tokyo Central Wholesale, so their buns are very tasty.

I always miss nikuman during the Summer, and I still can't understand why they always stop selling them at the combini (they still sell fried chicken, and other hot snacks). Hopefully I can make it to Yutenji sometime next week to me you and Carsten. And I hope you'll come to the OK FRED launch party!

To go to Meguro Gojuuban, take a bus [黒01/02/06/07] from JR Meguro station West exit. Get off at the third bus stop called 'Moto Keibajou mae' (元競馬場前). Walk about 100m towards Claska direction, cross the street, and the shop will be there!

You can also buy Nikuman at Nakamura-ya throughout the year (they don't steame nikuman at the shop though). I think they have little shops at SEIBU or TOBU department store in Ikebukuro too. I love their Nikuman, and also their characters called Nick & Ann (means 'meat & sweet beans' in Japanese) make me happy. Great names!

夏の肉まん、以外にイイよ。暑い時にラーメン、寒い時にアイスなんてのもオイシイし。でも夏はやっぱり冷麺だね。って私は何でも美味しく食べられるんです。冷麺食べたって事はロンドンもやっとこさ暑くなったわけね。
