今朝の2時40分から6時までオリンピック開会式をテレビで見てました。途中で退屈になるだろうと思っていたのに、オリンピック委員会会長の挨拶以外は居眠りもせずに楽しみました。ギリシャ神話のパフォーマンスの絵の様な衣装はシンプルで良かったです。今日からいきなりヤワラちゃんと野村が出る柔道、水泳はソープの400m自由形と北島の100m平泳ぎ予選、そして日本女子バレーとかなり盛り上がれる種目が揃ってます。

I watched the Olympic ceremony on TV from 2:40am-6:00am this morning, except I fell asleep during the IOC President speech. I thought it would be boring but I kind of enjoyed it. The costumes for the Greek myths performance were simple and nice. Today, I'm going to watch Judo, Men's 400m freestyle, Men's 100m Breaststroke Qualifying, and Women's Volleyball. I will be busy.

I also enjoyed the parade. It's fun to see all the countries being represented, and to see their different outfits. My plan was to watch until Canada and Japan passed, but because Canada is spelled with a k in greek, it took until around 4-4:30 before I got to see them (and then I went to sleep and taped the rest). I liked the German uniform which was an earthy colour suit with an smokey orange salmon tie. Also people in their national costumes are always nice. I think the flowery patterned Japanese uniform which is designed by KENZO (UNIQLO produced and distributed free of charge) was so wrong for the Olympic. I never liked the Japanese design for the Olympic anyway!

Hi Jun. Did you see the men dressed as naked greek statues? They were so funny! They even had plastic genitals!! I got a review of my work in the Guardian Guide yesterday! I can't believe it! It's really funny!! Hurray! It's also my four year anniversary of being nigel(britishmuseum) yuck!! Nx

I haven't had time to catch any of the olympics yet (or rather, I probably could have made the time but decided not to, being cynical and all). Hope you enjoyed your day's worth of programing though. I've never seen competition level judo before and would be interested in hearing what it's like ^_^.
