Last night, I was watching Olympic Men's Marathon on TV, after watching F1. I was so shocked to see the man pushed the race leader to the side of the road. It's so annoying! This intruder was also on the track during F1 British Grand Prix 2003. It doesn't seem like he just wants to be the centre of attention...

I sometimes go to one of the big chain izakayas. I don't really fancy their food, but their matches are great. It says ありがとうございます (thank you in Japanese) and THANK YOU. The kerning for the Japanese font is too tight, but I still love this match!

Yesterday, I had peanut sprouts for the first time at my friend's house. They were very big (almost same size as vegetable sticks) and more fresh than normal bean sprouts. It was nice to eat with miso dip.

I bought Carincho by Morinaga. This chocolate covered biscuit had been on the market from 1976 but it disappeared in 80's. And Morinaga reproduced this again after 20 years time. It's not tasty at all, but I love the package. It is also very nostalgic to me. The guy called Muki muki man (strong muscled man) was on the advertising.

I found a Johnson & Johnson Stim-U-Dent Plaque Removers (not a toothpick?) in a drawer of the bathroom. My friend brought this to me from N.Y. ages ago. I don't know if I will use this, but I think this is a beautiful product design. Come to think of toothpick, I was surprised to see a toothpick with two pointed ends in Europe. The Japanese one is shorter and only one side is sharp, and I can (I usually don't) make a toothpick rest.

My friend invited me (or maybe I asked him to invite me) to watch the Olympic games with an unbelievably huge screen. It was nice. And I also had a chance to meet the guy who I know only from his blog. I brought a Greek drink Ouzo but I guess some people hates this because of the strong anise flavour, not good for liquorice haters either. It was nice to watch Ouzo turns milky white colour after pouring it over ice cubes (or mix with water). To enjoy Ouzo, we need a little something to eat with it.

I went to a sushi restaurant in Nakameguro to meet my friends and their son, and their friends from Germany. I haven't seen their son for five months, and he has grown up a lot! I was happy to see their son was rolling towels nicely.

There was a OK FRED magazine party at ICC in Shinjuku. I used to study (and I was born) in Shinjuku, so I feel a little bit nostalgic about this area. But I never feel comfortable being in Shinjuku. There are always too many people everywhere but I find Shinjuku (around station area) is kind of a lonely place. I don't know why.

It's hot! I need spicy food and beer! I went to a Thai restaurant called Mai Thai in Ebisu with my friend. Unfortunately there were lots of young people in the small restaurant. They were super noisy and we couldn't even have a conversation. Their Tom Yum Goong was mild to me, I want a more punchy flavour. I want to go there again when there are not so many young guys. It was only 11pm when we left the restaurant. We moved to the next place on a long summer night.

I'm watching the Athens Olympic swimming races every day. I enjoy the record times and the swimming styles, and also the swim cap designs. A few swimmers from Zimbabwe, Croatia and America were wearing a strange cap. It looked like a skinhead wig to me! I found out that the Japanese team replica silicone swim caps are on sale, but I want the German one. Does anyone know where I can buy the cap?

Yesterday was my friend R's birthday. We wanted to have dinner on a roof terrace, but it was raining unfortunately. After we had lots of drink and food at a restaurant, we moved to our usual izakaya. We watched the Olympic games with a big screen and kept drinking. Sorry R, I think I got too excited to watch games, but it was nice birthday party!

It was very nice and cool yesterday. The highest temperature was only 22 °C which was 12 °C colder than the day before. I can't believe that the temperature had topped 30 °C in Tokyo for 40 days in a row. The weather forecast said that it will be very hot again from today. But I definitely can feel the sign of autumn since yesterday, even though there is an old saying 'Atsusa samusa mo higan made' (neither heat nor cold lasts beyond the spring and autumnal equinox).

I watched the Olympic ceremony on TV from 2:40am-6:00am this morning, except I fell asleep during the IOC President speech. I thought it would be boring but I kind of enjoyed it. The costumes for the Greek myths performance were simple and nice. Today, I'm going to watch Judo, Men's 400m freestyle, Men's 100m Breaststroke Qualifying, and Women's Volleyball. I will be busy.

The other day, there was a shooting for TV ads in a public bath for a magazine. And I was there as an extra (with clothes on). The bath is called Myoujin-yu and was built in 1957. It looks amazing: very high ceiling and a painting of Mt Fuji on the wall (very classic). Appearently, this bath has often appeared on TV and in magazines.

Yesterday, I came across some plastic Bigot's bread boxes in front of a little supermarket near the Nikuman shop on Meguro street. I was happy to see them because I thought that there are only 2 shops selling their bread in Tokyo. In the supermarket, there was a little bread section, they had 7-8 kinds of Bigot's bread. But they were wrapped individually in plastic bags, and didn't look very nice to me. I bought only Canelé. It was so delicious!

Today, I took the opportunity to refresh myself. I swam for an hour in a swimming pool, and I went to the famous Nikuman (meat bun) shop Meguro Gojuuban on Meguro street. There were only 4 choices of steamed buns (although there were many kinds of chilled buns for take away) and I chose Natsu-man (Summer bun). I sat on a little bench in front of the shop, and enjoyed the bun. Without the shop people telling me, I wouldn't have known that it was a mixture of Kimuchi (Korean pickles) and Yakiniku (Korean BBQ) dipping sauce flavour. Next time, I want to eat Yasaiman (vegetable) or Gomoku-nikuman (bit of veg, meat etc). Yakisoba-nikuman (stir fried noodle) sounds good too.

I saw a strange product at a 100yen shop. The plastic cover changes an AA battery to a C battery (there was also a version for AA to D). I probably wouldn't buy them but it is an interesting idea. These days I've been super busy and I don't have time to update LDK (although I have time to go to 100yen shop!). I hope I can come back on Wednesday and update everyday. I can't believe that I did it twice today. When I was drawing illustrations on paper, I put down my pen to have a break, and I did 'Apple+S' ('Control+S' for Windows) in my head! This is not an occupational disease, probably my brain is damaged from the combination of the summer heat and too much air conditioning.

Yesterday, the internet provider sent me a new cable for my modem. They said there was something wrong with an old cable. Anyway, I was surprised to see the box of the cable. It said MADE IN CHINA in big print on the front of the box. It almost looks like it is a brand name.

I didn't know that the package of natto (fermented soy beans) from Takano Foods has changed to the summer version; National High School Baseball Championship Series. It is very unusual to use blue for a natto package (usually in warm colour). I remember, in winter time, a daruma was on a package to pray for passing an exam. Maybe their target customers are mothers who have school kids.

I already wrote about Jaffa Cakes before, but this time, I tasted five different maker's Jaffa Cakes. However I don't particularly love this sweet, this is the one of the most popular sweets (from supermarkets) in London, and I want to find the best Jaffa Cakes. Thank you dear my friends for providing me the research materials!

Yesterday, I went to see Sumida River firework with my friends. We wanted to relax and enjoy fireworks (and drink), so we avoided the bank area. We saw the fireworks from Hirakawa bridge but couldn't see Pokemon firework. I wonder what was it like... After fireworks, there were too many people around Asakusa station area. We walked toward the Sensouji temple against the crowd, and we had a drink again, went to karaoke after. It was a good long day.
