On the first day of our Shikoku trip, after arriving at Tokushima Airport, we headed to Naruto City to see the Naruto Whirlpools. I wanted to see a clear swirl just like a naruto maki (fish sausage with a swirl pattern) in ramen noodle. But on that day the size of the swirl was only medium (a big swirl appears at the times marked red on this calendar). Anyway, we took the Undersea Eddy Current Observer Boat AQUA EDDY. When the boat started to splash and move quite fast, I remembered that I easily get seasick. Oops!

When AQUA EDDY stopped near the Naruto Bridge, the boats' observation room was lowered to 1m below sea level. But it was just green sea water in front of the window! I was completely seasick and thought that watching the inner workings of eddy currents is like being in a car wash. I could see only water and lots of little bubbles! The crew told us that we can move to the deck and watch the swirl from above. I was almost losing consciousness, but I moved to the deck (also C said I should go outside and look very far to feel better). I was super sick! I couldn't (and didn't want to) see much, even though the people around me seemed to have a nice time finding swirls. Oh well, I recommend to see the big swirl (choose the best day!) from the Uzu no Michi walkway above the sea.
