We enjoy hot wine in Winter as I wrote before. Last month, C' mother kindly sent us some GLÜHfix (spice mix in a tea bag). We warm up red wine with a spice bag (never boil!) in a pot and add some honey. Yummy. We can also buy granulated glüh wine mix but it doesn't seem tasty somehow.
In the north of Italy, we have something like hot wine, we call it "vin brule'", and it's pretty easy to prepare: warm up red wine (0.75 ml), you should not boil it as well, than add sugar (100 gr), some pieces of cinnamon, nutmeg and 2 or 3 cloves. After a few minutes it's ready to drink. Usually we drink it hot, but it's fine even cold. I often add some fruit like oranges with their peel or apples.
I love hot wine too! To me it is soo Christmassy. We had lots of vin chaud (as the French call it) in Tignes when we were snowboarding. Its the best after a couple of runs down the slope! Our friend Adolfo made it for us too while we were there. His recipe was just like Andrea's. He is Spanish though.
I prefer it with fruits: it reminds my city, Milan, during the flea market of Xmas. When squatters sell fruit vin brule' on the streets, and even if it doesn't look so clean, it's very tasty and nostalgic!
