ここのところずーっと折り畳みイス、そしてベンチにもなりそうなローテーブルを探しているんだけれど、ピンと来るモノに全く出会えません。なのにハビタのカタログには手頃な値段で良さそうな物がイロイロ載っていてため息が出ます。でもきっとロンドンに住んでいたらハビタ熱をあげることもなく「ロンドンの無印は商品がなんでこんなに少ないの！」なんて激怒するんだろうな。シンプルな家電あたりうらやましくて仕方なくなるのかも。隣りの芝が青く見えてるだけかな？！

These days, I've been looking for nice folding chairs and a low table which I can also use as a bench, and I can't find any! But there are lots of nice and reasonable items in a Habitat catalogue! It made me sigh!! But if I were in London, I probably don't care Habitat this much, and I might be complaining about MUJI in London because of their limited selection (MUJI in Japan has good appliances and food). Is it just 'The grass is always greener on the other side'?!

私はコンランショップよりも断然にハビタの方が好きです。コンランショップを色で例えるとゴールド。私はシルバーの方がイイんです。たまにシボネで「ハビタのカタログに載っている」モノが売られています。もっとイロイロ売らないかな。私がまだ小学生でインテリアの事なんか考えもしていなかった1982年、西武百貨店池袋店にハビタがオープンしました。撤退したのは何年だったんでしょう。今の時代なら売れると思うので復活して欲しいなぁ。

I definitely prefer Habitat than THE CONRAN SHOP. I would say the image colour of THE CONRAN SHOP is gold and Habitat is silver, and I choose silver accessories! Cibone shop in Tokyo sells a few products which I saw in a Habitat catalogue. They are much more expensive than the original prices in London, but I hope they sell more stuff. We have THE CONRAN SHOP in Japan, but no Habitat. In 1982, when I was still a kid and never thought about interior design, Habitat was opened in Ikebukuro SEIBU in Tokyo. I don't know how long the shop was there, but I am sure that Habitat will be very successful in Japan in the 21st century. Please come back!!

調べてみたら、雑貨・インテリアショップがオープンし始めるのは80年代前半ですね。六本木AXISのリビング・モティーフ、アフタヌーンティーやF.O.B COOPが1981年、青山にある無印の路面店第1号が1983年で、IDEEは85年。コンラン氏もタイミングよくハビタを出店した感じなんですけどね。ちょっと早かったんでしょうね。質と値段がお客の求める物よりも高かったのかな？
