とうとう来てしまいました、花粉の季節。今日は雨だったのでラクでしたけど3日前から目も鼻もヤバいです。日本人にはクシャミをする時に手で口を覆わない人がたくさんいてビックリすると言う相棒。確かにそういう老若男女に出くわすと私もかなりムカッときます。日本には風邪を引いたら菌を気にしてマスクをするという、なんとも気配りのきいた習慣があるのにクシャミの時のツバは撒き散らし放題っていうのがヘンな感じです。

Finally my hayfever season started. I felt better today because of the rain, but my eyes and nose have problems from three days ago. C told me that he can't believe there are many Japanese people who don't place their hand in front of their mouth when they sneeze. Yes, I really hate them too! In Japan, many people wear masks when they have a cold or flu, so that they don't spread germs. We have such a "considerate culture" but many people don't care about spreading germs when they sneeze. I don't understand!

写真は去年5月にドイツへ行った時に撮ったのもの。あちこちでたくさん咲いているタンポポを見る度に急性花粉症を引き起こしそうでヒヤヒヤしました。ウッカリすると口の中にも入ってきそうな程の固まりになった綿毛が空中を飛び回っていたので、手で口を覆いながら歩きました。後で知ったのですが、あの綿毛はタンポポのモノではなくポプラだったんですね。という事はポプラ並木が美しい北海道もあんなになっちゃうのかな？と思ったら、やっぱりフワフワするんですね。ホントに雪か綿みたい。

I took this picture in May last year in Germany. There were lots of dandelions everywhere, and big white fluffs were flying in the air. Even just seeing them made my nose feel itchy. I walked outside with my mouth shut and covered with my hand, just in case. I believed that the fluffs comes from dandelions but I found out that they were from the poplar trees. I had never seen them before! We don't have many poplar trees in Tokyo, but there are many in Hokkaido. Of course, there will be lots of fluffs which looks like snow or cotton.

I remember that a friend of mine in germany used to get an injection every spring to help her with the hayfever, which worked quite well actually. That injection 'lasted' the whole hayfever season. But in England that injection/treatment is not available for some reason. Can you get that it in Japan, or do you have to rely on hayfever tablets only? ... and do you know which trees or plants cause you the worst hayfever?

Even we have too much pollen this year, I don't want to take that many injections!! In Japan, people take medicines, but the one I had in London works much better, and take some herbs and food which suppose to ease hayfever (↑ yuririnn also wrote about this on her comment).
