2年前のクリスマスプレゼントにもらったシャトー・ラギオールのソムリエナイフ。それまで使っていた両手を使うウィング式のワインオープナーに比べると難しそうでちょっと使いにくいかもと思ったものの、コツをつかんだらかなり簡単でした。そして使う度にちょっとイイ気分。こんな風に手作りされていると思うとウレシくなります。ドイツではワインを開けるのも注ぐのも男の役目だとか。本当なのかはわかりませんけど、とりあえず、いつもドイツ人の相棒に開けてもらってました。しかし、このナイフを使いこなせるようになってからは私も開け役を買って出ています。

Two years ago, I got a Chateau Laguiole corkscrew as a Christmas present (Laguiole is a small vilage in France). This corkscrew seemed too professional to me at first, especially if I compared to a wing corkscrew I used to use. But it was actually very easy to use, and I feel good about using a beautiful sommelier corkscrew. It's nice to see how they are made. I don't know if it's true, but I heard that men have to open (and pour) wine in Germany. So C used to open all wine bottles for us, but these days I offer to do that.

日本では、このシャトー・ラギオールとライヨール（訛っているらしく発音が違いますが、どちらもスペルは同じでLaguiole。フランスにある村の名前です。）の2社が有名ですが、Laguioleで検索すると他にも数百程のLaguioleを名乗る刃物メーカーが出てきます。どうやら「Laguioleと書いてあるから、ミツバチがついているから良い品物」と思ってはいけないようです。ミツバチもメーカーによって見た目がかなり違っているみたいだし。フランス旅行に行ったらヒトツ買おう、なんて人は良い品物を見極める目が必要になりますね。ウチが元祖！と対立するラギオールVSライヨールの話がコチラにわかりやすく書かれてます。私はシャトー・ラギオールのクラッシクなデザインがライヨールよりも断然気に入ってます。

Chateau Laguiole and Forge De Laguiole (pronounced "la yole") are regarded as two of the best manufacturers in the Laguiole region in France. I didn't know that if I search "Laguiole", there are hundreds of manufacturers which make Laguiole Knives and they even call themselves "Laguiole so-and-so". There are no real or fake, but there are good or bad. If you plan to visit France and buy a Laguiole knife there, it's important to have a good eye to choose the one! I prefer the classic style of Chateau Laguiole than the Forge De Laguiole style, and I especially like the Laguiole bee (other manufacturers also decorate knives with a bee, and they look slightly different).

かっこいいですね。自分が使っているのもLaguioleと書いてました。でもどちらのかは分かりません。ステンレス製？で、値段も3000円ぐらいでしたので他のLaguioleかもしれません。でも使い勝手は悪くないようです。自分のはドリルに溝がはいってました。これの方がコルクに引っかかりやすいのかな？以外と気に入ってます。でもJunさんのナイフかっこいいなぁ。
