I like casual fashion, I owned something like 30 pairs of trainers, over 10 pairs of Levi's and at least 100 t-shirts since I was teenager, and my favourite hollywood fashion icon was (still is?) Elliott from E.T.. But when I needed to be dressed up a little bit, I visited HELMUT LANG and I bought his beautiful bag, shoes, shirt, jacket and coats etc. Yesterday I received a card from the HELMUT LANG shop, and I was surprised read that the label will end with this season! A few days ago, I accidentaly found the shop card from 1993 (left on the photo) and it brought back nice old memories. I need HELMUT LANG!

I felt like buying something at HELMUT LANG before the shop closes in the middle of January, but the current items are not designed by Lang. I didn't know that he left HELMUT LANG in January 2005, a few months after Prada bought HELMUT LANG. I guess I have to wait for his comeback!

A similar thing happened a couple of years ago to Jil Sander if I remember correctly? Prada bought the name, Jil bailed. She's now back with her own label-name, though. There must be some kind of Prada curse...

We're in New Zealand right now and the local newspaper headline today was about a 74-year-old German tourist who's cycling around NZ (cool!) and happened to stray onto some Mongrel Mob (Maori criminal gang) land to camp for the night. He returned from a morning walk to find his tent and all belongings stolen. Kind locals took him to an outdoor equipment shop and they gave him brand new gear gratis, restoring his faith in New Zealanders.

This is relevant to your post (kind of) because the paper referred to him continuously as "Helmet" Harmann whereas surely his name must have been "Helmut".

I have two HL shirts and even if I they are a bit old now (8 years), I love them so much. Expecially for the collar: it fits perfectly my neck. I was wearing one of them when I moved to Japan the first time. Oh! I will miss you Helmut (but probably you will not miss me: 2 shirts in 8 years it's not that much)!

Really? Helmut Lang's no londer?! That is sad news, although I don't own any thing by him, I did like his designs. Giblin has a suit by him and he's worn it to many a weddings! Also, Elliot! he was my hatsukoi! How funny! I also enjoyed reading both Jamesu and Andrea's entries. I laughed outloud when I read the last line of both of their entries!

Jamesu, I hope you sre enjoying nice Summer holiday. I'm freezing in Tokyo... Your story reminded me of Jim Jarmusch's Night On Earth. There is a German taxi driver called Helmut, and people think his name is Helmet. I didn’t think it happened in real life!

Hi andrea, I bought one or two items once in every two years... I guess he is not going to miss me either. But I'm sure he knows that we miss him a lot!

He he! It's funny that we both liked Elliot, but in a different way. I was a tomboy and I guess you were little cute girl, Keiko!

Hi Jun Mr. Lang has been designing lots for the high street lately. He did a whole range for the mens dept in H&M but it wasn't very nice! The guest designers for the womens dept sold out straight away tho! Nx

I heard the news of Stella McCartney's H&M collection. There was a massive queue outside of the shop in the morning, right? I didn't know that Mr. Lang did the design for mens. Maybe his design is too simple and it doesn't go well with H&M style and the audiences.
