玄米食をはじめようと思い立ち、いつも買っている(といっても米消費量がかなり少ないのであまりお世話にはなってない)米屋へ。表皮部分に農薬が多く残ると聞いていたので迷う事なく無農薬を希望し、若旦那にすすめられた柔らかみはないけど味が良いという石川県のこしひかりをチョイス。1キロ750円。今まで食べていた茨木産コシヒカリのほぼ倍の値段。張り切って選んだものの圧力鍋がないともっちりと炊けないらしいので、結局七分付きにしてもらう。なんだか白米とあまり変わりがない見た目に・・・。
It's good for us to eat unpolished brown rice, so I went to a local rice shop to choose. The rice bran contains an agricultural chemical, so I told the shop owner I wanted agricultural chemical free rice. He told me that Koshihikari brand from Ishikawa prefecture has a good flavour, so I chose it. It costs ¥750/kg, almost double the price of Koshihikari brand from Ibaragi prefecture, which we used to eat. It sounded like I wouldn't be able to cook tasty sticky brown rice without a pressure pan, so I asked the owner to polish 70% of the bran away in the end. It seemed like too much polishing...
