I thought that I had enough daily gargling and washing hands, but I got flu and I spent two days in bed. I know that only Japanese beleive that gargling prevents cold and flu. My throat still hurts badly so I had hot water mixed with lemon and ginger infused honey. I normally don't drink sweet drinks, but I enjoyed this drink with lots of honey.

Last week I went to the party of visionaire 48: magic on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills. The invitation was a 3D print, we see a different image depending on the angle and the party was as glamourous as the invitation. My champagne glass was never empty and the DJ lady was very gorgeous!

I bought cakes from Pierre Hermé for the first time and they were incredibly good. I've never been this excited about cakes before! I felt stupid for thinking that Hermé is only famous for macarons.

Omotesando Hills, designed by Tadao Ando, finally opens on 11 February on the site of the old dojunkai Aoyama apartments (in Japanese), which were knocked down in 2003, 75 years after they were built. Yesterday, I went to the pre-opening with my friend. The pale green glass wall on the right of the picture is a public toilet! Ando Hills is amazing (all guests got a green wristband)!

We went to Cafe Pause for the opening party of Canadian Style. It was sooo packed! I gave up taking photos and got myself a Labatt beer and some maple cookies. Canada is one of those countries which I really want to visit. This was my first time to check out snapazoo, it was much nicer than I thought. It might be a good gift for children.

I cooked Honey Torrijas from Josep Barahona Viñes' recipe book called pica pica pintxos! (in Japanese). It's a Spanish version of French toast. This recipe needs coconut milk and we soak the bread in the egg mixture for more than an hour. Japanese coconut milk seems quite thin, so I chose coconut cream. It gave a strong flavour, so it wasn't a bad choice. I had the last slice with sprinkled powdered sugar instead of honey and I preferred it. But it couldn't be called Honey Torrijas anymore...

I had cod and anglerfish nabe at my friends' house. The tiny salmon nabe set is part of the Winter Hokkaido Campaign, it came with Sapporo Black Label. It is already about six years ago, but I really loved Sapporo Black Label's tv ads with two cool Japanese actors, Etsuji Toyokawa and Tsutomu Yamazaki. But I prefer to drink Yebisu or Kirin lager beer...

There are some famous food shops in Yutenji where I live. The two curry restaurants, the bakery which opens at midnight, the tiny Chinese restaurant and the Yakiton (grilled giblets on skewers) restaurant called Chuuya, all shops are very unique. It sounds very strange, but Chuuya opens at 15:30 and closes around 19:00 because they ran out of food. I finally had a chance to go there the other day.
