若者でごった返しの日曜夕方の原宿。用事があったついでに大阪鮓の八竹の暖簾をくぐってきた。店の佇まいがシブすぎてなんとも入りにくいんだけども、老舗料理屋というわけではなく持ち帰りメインのスシ屋さん。懐かしい感じのする店内でスシを注文し、いい飴色を出している古い木製のスツールに座り「明治通りの雑踏がウソみたいだねぇ」なんてシミジミしながら、頂いた熱いお茶をすすり、スシを待つ。なぜかワタシひとりで店を占領してたけど、平日はオバチャマ達でいっぱいらしい。四谷には1924年創業の本店あり(ココから暖簾分けしてもらったそう)。
On Sunday afternoon in the super busy Harajuku, I finally had a chance to go to Hachiku. It looks like a really expensive Japanese restaurant from the outside, but it is an old Osaka-style Sushi store, for take-out service only. While they prepared my sushi, I was sitting on an old wooden stool, drinking the hot green tea I had been served. It was very quiet, I was the only customer and I couldn't believe that I was next to Meiji street. Apparently there are lots of grannies in the shop during weekdays and there is also a Yotsuya branch which was established in 1924.

買ったのは穴子のバッテラ1人前、茶巾ずし1人前(2個)、そして人生初めての黄味ずし1人前。酢でしめた光り物(コハダ、サバ、アジから選択)の握りの上に甘〜い黄色の餡が乗ったもの。餡の材料は卵の黄身と何だろう?ユズの皮もチラっと入ってた。とにかくこの黄色が目にかなり衝撃的(暗い部屋で取ったので写真はイケてないが)そして口に入れてまたビックリ。東西新聞社の栗田ゆう子風に言えば「まあ。甘味と酸味の調和が見事だわ。上あごでとろける黄味餡と舌の上でほろりと崩れるシャリがうまく溶け合って。眠っていた感覚が目覚める感じだわ。」といったところ。穴子のバッテラは絶品。穴子の焼具合にキゼツしそうだった。

I ordered Anago Battera (sea eel pressed sushi), Chakin-zushi (sushi rice and vegetables wrapped in a thin egg crepe), and Kimi-zushi for the first time. The marinated fish is topped with very sweet cooked egg yolk and the choice of fish is Kohada (Spotted Sardine or Gizzard Shad), Saba (mackerel), or Aji (horse mackerel). This sushi looks amazing and tastes interesting, it was a new taste for me. I always like Anago Battera, but their grilled Anago was really impressive!

lucinda, if you like anago, please try their anago no battera (¥1,260)! Kimi-zushi could be a little bit... This shop is along Meiji street from LAFORET towards Shibuya direction. Do you know where is LEVI'S store? hachiku(八竹)is two shops next to it.

たまらん!ギブリンは寿司ネタの中で穴子が一番好きやねんなー。それにしても渋い店構えですな。いつか行ってみたいわ!はぁ・・じゅんちゃんはいつも美味しいものを食べてるな〜。羨ましいです。

それなら絶対にギブリンに食べてもらわなくっちゃ。今度用意しとく!もしくは買い物帰りに一緒に行こ!このシブい店構え、京都っぽいな、なんて思うけどそんな事もないのかな。美味しいものに限らずイロイロと食べ過ぎなんだよね。やばいやばい。
