For a very very long time, I had been thinking about getting a Lagostina pressure cooker, now I finally bought one. I've heard some people recommend a 3 liter pressure cooker for a family of three, and a 5 liter cooker for a family of five. But I got a 7 liter one, even though there is only two of us. It's not only because we enjoy food a lot, or that it was a half price offer for the 7 liter version. There is a more important reason why I chose this size of pressure cooker.

I got this size because I can boil long pasta with it (not using pressure). We always needed a big pot to boil long pasta. My mother told me that a pressure cooker is too heavy to use as a pasta pot, but I thought that Lagostina might be OK. If I take the cool-looking lid off, it just looks like a normal pot (not too thick), the diameter is 22cm and the height is 19cm, almost the same size as a normal pasta pot. The weight without the top is about 1.8kg, it's not light but not too bad. A normal lid is also available, but I think my Tefal lid fits well enough. I haven't boiled pasta yet, but I tried my first pressure cooking: Chickpea stew. It was so good! Hurray Lagostina!

I miss my old Lagostina Pressure Cooker from the 70's! The design remains almost unchanged. I left it in Italy before moving to Japan. I think it was a wedding present for my parents, but they never used it. It's good for boiling spaghetti, but the curved rim makes complicate to strain them.

I know what you mean about the rim! I noticed it when I was washing the cooker. Let's see how it goes. There are a few new models of pressure cookers from Lagostina, and I got this with a big discount, so I'm a little bit worried that this beautiful old design might disappear soon. I really like this classic design!

I actually use a saute pan to boil long pasta. Probably not very authentic but it works for me. Your Lagostina looks beautiful!

Hi tommy, the pot we usually use for boiling pasta is not so big either. But I don't like it when the water becomes gooey! This Lagostina looks good isn't it? I still haven't tried to boil pasta with Lagostina, but I like it a lot :-)
